The Rare Earth Elements Division organized a “Stay Calm and Focused” TPM activity.

Improving the on-site environment hinges on the continuous, hard work of frontline employees. On July 21, the Rare Earth Elements Division addressed the issue of “air leaks in compressed air systems” by involving employees and team leaders, along with on-site guidance from fitters. This approach enabled both site managers and frontline workers to quickly identify the root causes of the problem and implement effective improvements and solutions.

Improving the on-site environment hinges on the continuous, hard work of frontline employees. On July 21, the Rare Earth Elements Division addressed the issue of “air compressor air leaks” on-site by involving employees and team leaders, with mechanical fitters providing on-site guidance. This approach enabled both site managers and frontline workers to quickly identify the root causes of the problem and implement effective improvements and solutions.

Working principle of an oil-water separator:

The oil, water, and gas inside the air compressor are separated: the gas is routed to subsequent equipment such as pneumatic valves, while the oil and water remain in the separator. Once a certain amount has accumulated, they are automatically discharged. Meanwhile, the pneumatic valves and air lines regulate the air pressure, ensuring that the on-site pressure is maintained at 0.3 MPa. This not only meets the requirements of the on-site equipment and saves energy consumption but also protects the air lines from damage caused by excessive pressure.

During the activity, participants simultaneously cleaned the equipment, rearranged the air ducts for a simpler and more aesthetically pleasing design, and replaced any damaged air ducts—achieving significant results with minimal investment. In this initiative, a total of 60 oil-water separators were installed. Going forward, the relevant departments will continue to submit purchase requests and expand the scope of the project to cover all work areas, thereby improving the working environment for frontline employees.

“Accumulate small steps, and you’ll travel a thousand miles; gather small streams, and you’ll form rivers and seas.” Any major issue is the cumulative result of countless minor ones. In on-site management, only by paying close attention to details can we truly do our job well. Through the “Calm and Steady” TPM initiative, on-site employees can clearly recognize that there’s no limit to improvement—simply by being willing to take action, the working environment on-site can be significantly enhanced.
