Circular on total amount control planning for rare earth and tungsten ore mining 2015

    On 14th May , China’s Ministry of Land and Resources released the circular on “total amount control planning for rare earth and tungsten ore mining 2015”, which sets 105,000 tons of rare earth oxides (REO) mining quotas in 2015, including 17,900 tons of the ion-absorption-type medium and heavy rare earths ,and 87,100tons of the rock-type light rare earths. The tungsten concentrate (containing 65% tungsten trioxide) mining quota was set at 91,300t in 2015, of which a major exploitation indicator of 73,300 tons and a comprehensive utilization indicator of 18000 tons.

    According to the notice, the authorities have already approved the plan for reorganization of six rare earth companies, which includes China Minmetals, Chinalco, China Northern Rare Earth Group (Baogang Group), Xiamen Tungsten Group, Guangdong Rare Earth Corp and China South Rare Earth Group (Ganzhou Rare Earth Group).
